Information Governance in SharePoint

Due to Technoical Problems we have rescheduled this event to the 11th March 2010.
Thank you for your understanding.

In today’s changing economic and regulatory climate it has become mandatory for organisations to consistently implement and enforce information governance for cost effective management, discovery, hold and disposition of content. Organisations that do not manage their enterprise content within the proper information governance mandates suffer from the threat of increasing litigation, rising storage costs and corporate inefficiency. The rapid proliferation of Microsoft SharePoint, in particular, has led many companies to lose control of the very content they had hoped to better manage.

Document Conversion Solutions - Creating Searchable Archives on Autopilot   Sponsored by ABBYY - December 2009

Many enterprises are still sitting on large volumes of paper-based legacy files that would be of far more value to the business if they were digitised. In AIIM surveys, improved access to information is given as by far the biggest return from scanning investment, even though document workflow applications can produce financial ROIs in 12 months or less.

However, to be useful as knowledge repositories, or for legal discovery, documents must be stored as searchable, accessible files in industry approved standards such as PDF/A. A simple scanned image file of a document, for example a TIFF, is not enough - whether your needs are collaboration, archiving or compliance.

ABBYY will explain how the latest OCR technology takes the physical work out of this process by automating and centralising the conversion of high volumes of documents. Learn also how OCR and PDF conversion functionality can be used in conjunction with other applications such as legal comparison solutions from Workshare.

Top Skills for Content Management - planning your professional development  Sponsored by Oracle - October 2009

In many organisations, the daily work is initiated by distribution of the incoming mail to departments, groups and individuals. ECM and E2.0 are recognised as likely high-growth areas in the next year or two. In this webinar we will present the results of an AIIM research project where we asked what skill sets are organizations seeking and how do these match the professional development aspirations of IT and Information Management professionals like yourself. What are the most sought after job titles and how well are they rewarded?

Learn from your colleagues with this independent European research, sponsored by Oracle:
- What are the ECM skills and expertise that will benefit the business most?
- What are the salary expectations of content management professionals?
- How are other businesses supporting professional development of their staff?

Doug Miles will present the results of the research and this will be followed by an interactive debate on the findings, led by Andrew Gilboy, European VP for Enterprise 2.0 & Content Management from Oracle. You will have the opportunity to provide your questions and feedback to this discussion

Mailroom Automation: Digital Mailroom Turns Workslow into Workflow!   Sponsored by Kofax - September 2009

In many organisations, the daily work is initiated by distribution of the incoming mail to departments, groups and individuals. While scanning and image-enabled workflow can be utilized to transport these documents around the organisation in a secure and auditable manner, significant human effort is still required to classify them in the mailroom. This causes processing delays, routing errors due to misinterpretation, and significant labour costs. Digital mailroom solutions from Kofax automate the classification and extraction of all incoming mail

  • Independent of delivery mechanism – handling paper documents, fax and e-mail in a single solution.
  • Independent of document type – hand-printed and handwritten forms, attachments, correspondence, invoices, checks, sales orders
  • In a proven and secure process

Paper documents are scanned as they arrive – no need for sorting into batches by type. Fax images are imported directly from a fax server – no need to print and scan. Emails are automatically ingested along with attachments. Kofax’s world-leading classification and extraction technologies identify each document based on image and text analysis before they are released to the correct workflow queue. If new document types are received they can be easily incorporated using Kofax’s revolutionary learn-by-example technologies.

Evolving the existing legacy applications and processes within your organisation under the umbrella of an Enterprise 2.0 portal is a very effective way to do this, without adjusting your underlying IT infrastructure.

High volume document archival: is ECM up to the job? Sponsored by Arquo Technologies - June 2009

Despite the upsurge in electronic content many enterprises still have mission-critical businesses that rely on paper-based processes or legacy archives. They involve vast quantities of documents, which must be captured and stored effectively, whilst remaining instantly available to ensure responsive customer service and safeguard legal compliance.

Many large enterprises need to ingest large and growing volumes of digital images at rates that are rarely achievable by functionally complex ECM systems. They must also be able to retrieve these documents if required to as part of a legal discovery process; AIIM’s State of the ECM Industry 2009 report found that 28% would take more than a month to do so.

SharePoint and Records Management – How to work collaboratively: Sponsored by HP - May 2009
SharePoint is rapidly being considered as the front end solution for business users; however it offers limited records management capability. Join this webinar to see how it can be done.

Is there a right or wrong way to introduce EDRMS? Sponsored by Kainos, February 2009

The strap-line for the EDRMS Project at Havant Borough Council is “The biggest change to the way you work is coming to a PC near YOU…” So, before rollout, the project team had worked out that the introduction of EDRMS was a huge undertaking.

There is a significant cultural challenge; staff will never save a document in the same way again, and, to get to the all important “value-add factor”, complex integration with line-of-business applications will need to be delivered. Havant has only just commenced its journey in the introduction of EDRMS, and already it has learnt some lessons about how to approach training and awareness, records management and system implementation.
